Come
experience a trip back into time and witness a special Native American
interpretation of the culturally diverse homelands of the Ute Mountain Ute
Tribe. Spend time in our incomparable Ute Mountain Tribal Park with
one of our knowledgeable Native American Ute tour guides. Guides
interpret Ute* Indian History, Ute pictographs, geological land
formations, and Ancestral Pueblo* petroglyphs, artifacts and dwellings. Special Prices are available to school groups. 1st grade - 8th grade- $9.00 per student 9th grade - 12th grad- $15.00 per student College age- $24.00 per student Rates for children within a family are: 8 and under- $6.00 per child 9 - 15- $12.00 per child No senior rates apply. A half-deposit is required for weekend groups and special tours. Deposits are only refunded with one week's notice. |

Ute Mountain Tribal Park Pool Canyon Cliff Dwelling Tour July 7, 2007 & July 21, 2007 August 4, 2007 & August 18, 2007 The Ute Mountain Tribal Park is offering to the public tours of the Nordenskiold Cliff Dwellings - a rarely visited area of the park. The tour is scheduled to start at the entrance of Mesa Verd National Park at 9:00 am and end at 5:00 pm. The tour involves a drive through Mesa Verde National Park and across to the Ute Reservation. Visitors will be guided into the Pook Canyon and visit four Nordenskiold cliff dwellings. The time it will take to hike from the parking area to the end of Pool Canyon is approximately four hours. Visitors must be physically fit for this visit and must wear comfortable hiking shoes. Also visitors must provide their own water and luch. Per Person/20 people maximum $60.00 Transportation provided by UMTP $12.00 The tour fee is $60.00 per person and transportation is $12.00 per person. A half-deposit is required. A tour packet will be provided prior to the visit. The tour will start from the Ute Mountain Pottery plan (eleven miles south of Cortez, Colorado) at 8:15 am; the Cortez Welcome Center at 8:30 am; and Mesa Verde National Park entrance at 9:00 am. The tour will be conducted depending upon the weather. The tour must be paid in foll on the day of the tour. Ute Mountain Tribal Park does not accept credit cards. Accepted forms of payment are: cash, traveler's checks, money orders, and personal checks from the state of Colorado. |

The Tribal Park is operated as a primitive area in
order to protect its cultural and environmental resources. |
| Water or food is not available in the Park. Water and soft drinks are available for purchase at the Tribal Park Visitor Center/Museum. Bring plenty of drinking water, and a lunch for the all-day trips, insect repellent, sun screen, a hat, and sturdy hiking shoes would also be advisable. Have a full tank of gasoline. No dogs are allowed. Professional photography is not allowed. Please inform the tour guide of serious health problems before taking the tour. The meeting point for tours is at the Tribal Park Visitor Center at Junction of highways 160/491, 20 miles south of Cortez, Colorado. The Ute Mountain Tribal Park may cancel tours due to weather. National Park Service's GOLDEN EAGLE PASSPORTS, credit cards or other passes are not valid here. |

*The Ute Mountain Ute's are the
Weeminuche band of the Ute's, one of the seven original Ute bands that inhabited
the entire state of Colorado. The Ute Mountain Ute's presently, reside on
their reservation in Southwestern Colorado.
*Ancestral Pueblo, or Anasazi, were people of the Pueblo culture. These
Pueblo people resided in the Four Corners areas (Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and
Arizona) until about 1300AD. The Puebloan Tribes that are presently
living in the states of Arizona and New Mexico are the descendants of the
Ancestral Pueblo.
